They were joined by P5s for an opening song of I Am the Earth
The children, dressed in Halloween costumes alongside the local councillors, shared their Calls to Action on tackling the climate emergency. These were:
Litter and its impact: Elected representatives need to enforce more consequences for dropping litter, make recycling easier and ensure it is processed in Scotland and not in other countries, and providing more education about its impact.
Trees being cut down: Elected representatives need to invest in and provide more education and research to prevent this.
Sea level rise and weather changes: Elected representatives need to launch big changes to our energy systems. This includes investing in wind power, solar and renewable energy forms.
The impact of burning fossil fuels on all life forms, including humans: Elected representatives need to change investments from big businesses.
